Annukka Paloheimo (Soome/ Finland)My interest in dogs started when I was teenager in the 70’s. I bred in a small scale and showed my dogs actively for over 40 years, right from the start also abroad. My own breeds are the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and the King Charles Spaniel. Merits include more than 60 champions and the Finnish Kennel Club’s Vuolasvirta prize for merited breeding. I became judge in 1986, first for my own breeds. I became an FCI all-breed judge in 2010, thanks to competent mentors and the Finnish Kennel Club’s training programme. My already grown-up sons and my job as a researcher of financial management have made it possible for me to pursue my interest in dogs in this extent – I am thankful for these years. I’ve gained judging experience from more than 50 countries on all continents. Membership in the Royal Kennel Club since 2002 and years I lived in England have put a certain stamp to my dog hobby and judging. The appointments I’ve had in England have been pleasant and I recently experienced one of my highlights, when I got to choose the most beautiful toy dog in Crufts in 2023. I’ve judged at FCI World Winner shows four times – wonderful experiences. Highlights of my hobby also include judging Best in Show at the Finnish Kennel Club’s Finnish Winner show in 2016. I am thankful for these memories. My goal when judging is a healthy, non-exaggerated dog that is typical for the breed and has a good temperament. My heart leaps of joy every time I meet such a dog

Marjatta Pylvänäinen- Suorsa (Soome/ Finland)I have been involved with the dogs all my life. My both grandfathers were eager hunters. So the Finnish hunting breeds, Karelian Bear Dogs and Finnish Spitzes created the strong basis to my love for dogs. Of course in my childhood my family had also other breeds like German Shepherd, Small Münsterländer and Schipperke. These were breeds that influenced most my interests in dog shows and different dog trials.
My first own breed was Afghan Hound, and then Tibetan Terriers and Tibetan Spaniels. I showed a lot my dogs, and for a quite long time bred Tibetan breeds. I have had International Champions and BIS-Winners. Just now I have at home only a veteran Cairn Terrier. I am International Dog Show Judge qualified to judge all breeds. I was qualified to judge my first breeds, Tibetan Terrier and Tibetan Spaniel, in 1982. I have judged in many countries all over the world. In my freetime I like to travell to foreign countries just to look and learn more of dogs. Every year most weekends I spend at dog shows and judging is my dearest and most important hobby. And of course the dogs are my great love. I also educate new judges. It takes quite a lot of time but it is very interesting job and always also I learn something new! |

Myriam Vermeire (Belgia/ Belgium)I grew up with a German shepherd who was my very best friend during my childhood.
At the age of 14 I had my first Belgian shepherd Groenendaal, the breed that I have also bred for many years. At the age of 16 I started to work as a ringsteward at dogshows and in 1997 I became a judge for Belgian shepherds. After 23 years of studying and doing breed exams I became an allround judge in July 2019. I’m also approved to judge Junior Handling and it was a great honor to be one of the judges for the big Junior Handling competition at the World Dog Show in Amsterdam. I have already judged a lot of International shows and breed specialties in most European countries, in Israel, the United States of America, Russia, Argentina, Japan, Columbia, South-Africa and Australia and at European and World Dog Shows as well. I also gave seminars in some countries especially on Belgian shepherds and Junior Handling. Due to my judging I have stopped breeding because unfortunately I don’t have time for this anymore. Of course I still have dogs at home : 3 Tervuren adult males. I also have a young smooth Griffon. All my Belgian shepherd dogs won at World dog shows and have won national and several international titles. We also work with our dogs : IGP (obedience, tracking and bitework). Besides judging I’m also involved in different committees: I’m the president of Section 4A (responsible for Dogshows in Belgium) and I’m the general secretary of the Belgian Judges Qualification Commission. So you could say that I’m a real dog person and that dogs and the cynology are my passion! I am looking very much forward to my judging appointment in Tartu! I would like to thank the organizers for the invitation and wish al the exhibitors a lot of success! |
